Job summary

UHY Advisors' Resource Solutions Group is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong public accounting background and solid US GAAP expertise. You will manage accrual accounting, month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and audit support in a dynamic environment.

Role is remote with occasional travel to the Salt Lake City office; direct-hire position requiring 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, Bachelor's in Accounting or related field, CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, public accounting preferred.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and accrual accounting principles.
• Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and close activities.
• CPA license or active CPA candidate strongly preferred.
• Experience with ERP implementations and Sage Intacct is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, record, and reconcile monthly accrual journal entries in accordance with US GAAP.
• Lead assigned month-end close activities and ensure deadlines are met accurately.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, including accruals and prepaid expenses.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between subsidiary ledgers and the general ledger.
• Maintain month-end close schedules, checklists, and supporting documentation.
• Review cash and credit card transactions for accuracy and GL coding.
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations and resolve differences.
• Provide accounting guidance on transaction coding and questions.
• Prepare audit schedules, workpapers, and supporting docs for audits.
• Respond to auditor requests and assist with year-end tax schedules.
• Ensure revenue and expense recognition complies with US GAAP.
• Assist in developing accounting policies and internal controls.
• Participate in ERP implementations and systems improvements.
• Support AP automation and expense management process improvements.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting accuracy.
• Collaborate with leadership on special projects.

A great UHY client is seeking a Senior Accountant. The ideal candidate will have public accounting experience, strong accrual accounting and month-end close expertise, and a solid understanding of US GAAP.

The Senior Accountant role is a remote position with some travel to the office needed. This is a direct hire position.

• Prepare, record, and reconcile monthly accrual journal entries in accordance with US GAAP.
• Lead assigned month-end close activities and ensure all deadlines are met accurately and timely.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations, including accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses, and other key accounts.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between subsidiary ledgers and the general ledger.
• Maintain month-end close schedules, checklists, and supporting documentation.
• Review cash and credit card transactions entered by staff to ensure accuracy and proper general ledger coding.
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations and resolve outstanding differences.
• Provide accounting guidance to internal team members on transaction coding and accounting questions.
• Prepare audit schedules, workpapers, and supporting documentation for annual financial statement audits.
• Respond to auditor requests and assist with year-end tax schedules and supporting analyses.
• Ensure revenue and expense recognition complies with US GAAP.
• Assist in developing, documenting, and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Participate in ERP implementation and system improvement initiatives, including chart of accounts setup, data validation, and workflow configuration.
• Support implementation and optimization of accounts payable automation and expense management processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and financial reporting accuracy.
• Collaborate with leadership on special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and accrual accounting principles.
• Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting month-end close activities.
• Experience supporting external financial statement audits.
• Ability to develop and implement accounting processes and procedures.
• Experience working independently in environments with evolving or limited processes.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• CPA license or active CPA candidate is strongly preferred.
• Experience in a startup or high-growth organization is a plus.
• Healthcare or direct-to-consumer industry experience is preferred.
• Experience with ERP implementations or system migrations.
• Sage Intacct experience is a plus.
• Experience with AP automation platforms such as Ramp is preferred.
• Experience improving credit card expense management processes is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems.
