Our client offers a local remote/hybrid opportunity to work for a well-established organization in the retail industry sector. This position works closely with the leadership team and will help drive and improve processes.

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant (or Senior Accountant) to support day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close activities. This role will be responsible for AR/AP, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close activities. This position collaborates with third-party accounting firms and external partners to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to GAAP. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable, including vendor payments and reconciliations
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records
• Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations and variance analysis
• Ensure accounting practices comply with GAAP and internal policies
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls
• Coordinate information flow and timelines with external accounting partners to ensure accurate and timely deliverables

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2–4 years of accounting experience (Accountant)
• 5+ years of accounting experience (Senior Accountant)
• Strong understanding of GAAP
• Experience with month-end close, AP, and reconciliations
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (QBO experience a plus)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
