Job summary

Vaco by Highspring in the RTP area is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing accounting team. You will own key components of the close, general ledger reconciliations, inventory, and financial reporting while partnering with leadership to drive process improvements.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, 4+ years of progressive accounting experience (inventory exposure helpful), strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills. CPA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own key components of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and reconciliations.
• Review GL activity, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
• Support monthly financial statements and management reporting.
• Involvement with inventory accounting and physical inventories.
• Provide accounting support across AP, cash, and banking activities.
• Contribute to documentation, controls, and process improvements.

Job description

We are recruiting a Senior Accountant to join a growing accounting team in the RTP area. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants broad exposure and the chance to make an impact beyond simply completing month end close. Working closely with accounting leadership, you will have ownership across general ledger accounting, reconciliations, inventory, financial reporting, and process improvement. The role is well suited for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving how things are done, and being a key contributor on a collaborative accounting team.

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of key components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and account reconciliations.
• Review general ledger activity, investigate variances, and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Support monthly financial statement preparation and management reporting.
• Play an active role in inventory accounting, reconciliations, and physical inventory activities.
• Provide accounting support across accounts payable, corporate credit cards, cash, and banking activities.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for financial reviews, tax preparation, and compliance requirements.
• Help strengthen accounting processes, documentation, and internal controls as the organization continues to evolve.
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes, workflows, and financial systems.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, CPA is a plus
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including exposure to inventory
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, inventory/cost accounting, reconciliations, and the financial close process.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working within ERP/accounting systems.
