A well-established yet growing distribution organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee key accounting functions within a multi-entity environment. This position will play an important role in financial reporting, month-end close, accounting operations, and process improvements while providing leadership to a small accounting team.

The ideal candidate brings a strong technical accounting foundation, preferably developed through public accounting experience, along with the ability to balance hands‑on responsibilities with team leadership. This opportunity offers a highly flexible hybrid schedule and exposure to a growing organization with ongoing acquisition activity.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across multiple entities.
• Review and prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting financial schedules.
• Manage general ledger accounting and ensure compliance with GAAP and established accounting policies.
• Prepare and review financial statements, account analyses, and management reporting.
• Supervise and develop accounting staff, providing guidance, reviewing work, and ensuring accountability for assigned responsibilities.
• Support accounting activities related to inventory, including physical inventory counts, reconciliations, and related financial reporting.
• Assist with acquisition-related accounting activities, including financial integration and consolidation of newly acquired entities.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes.
• Support annual audits, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor requests.
• Evaluate existing accounting procedures and identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls, reporting, and operational efficiency.
• Assist with accounting system enhancements, integrations, and other process improvement initiatives.
• Support special projects and additional accounting responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Public accounting experience strongly preferred, ideally combined with corporate accounting experience.
• CPA certification highly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and month-end close.
• Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or reviewing the work of accounting staff strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting physical inventory counts, inventory reconciliations, or inventory‑related accounting strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience within a multi‑entity organization preferred.
• Exposure to mergers and acquisitions, acquisition accounting, or post‑acquisition integration is a plus.
• Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
