Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a growing organization in Lexington, KY. You will support month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, and process improvements while partnering with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate has strong GAAP knowledge, general ledger experience, and advanced Excel skills. CPA or CPA-track is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 3–7+ years progressive accounting experience.
• CPA or CPA-track preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage portions of the month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain documentation.
• Perform complex account reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to management.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Support internal and external audit requests.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and company policies.
• Assist with fixed asset accounting, accruals, and balance sheet management.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Accountant to join a growing organization. This position will play a key role in the month-end close process, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting support, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger accounting experience, a solid understanding of GAAP, and the ability to partner with teams across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage portions of the month-end and year-end close process
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
• Perform complex account reconciliations and investigate variances
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to management
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Support internal and external audit requests
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
• Assist with fixed asset accounting, accruals, and balance sheet management
• Partner with operational leaders and cross-functional teams on financial initiatives
• Participate in process improvement projects and system enhancements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3-7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis
• ERP experience preferred (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Dynamics, or similar)
• CPA designation or CPA-track preferred
