We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our growing finance and accounting team in downtown Chicago. This role will be responsible for supporting the month-end close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, technical accounting research, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a CPA or CPA-track professional with strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances to support management reporting.
- Assist with external audits by preparing audit schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
- Support technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, leases, fixed assets, and business transactions.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting processes.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with company policies.
- Assist with system enhancements, process automation initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
- Support special projects, acquisitions, integrations, and other strategic initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA designation preferred or actively pursuing certification.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including public accounting and/or corporate accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and audit support.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Public accounting experience from a Big 4 or regional accounting firm.
- Experience working in a complex, multi-entity environment.
- Exposure to consolidations, intercompany accounting, and financial reporting.
- Experience with reporting and planning tools such as OneStream, Workiva, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Competitive base salary: $95,000 - $105,000 (commensurate with experience)
