Job summary

Buckingham Search is recruiting a Senior Accountant for a downtown Chicago client. The role focuses on journal entries, reconciliations, and US GAAP compliance, with SOX controls and cross-functional collaboration.

You will support OneStream reporting, month/quarter/year-end close, and audits, while driving process improvements and efficiency within a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
• 3+ years of progressive public accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Experience ensuring SOX compliance
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (JDE, SL9, or similar) and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve accounting issues
• Support OneStream reporting to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Maintain integrity of all financial transactions in compliance with US GAAP and company standards
• Oversee revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP, working closely with sales, legal, and operations
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting activities
• Participate in internal/external audits and remediate control findings
• Document standard operating procedures and accounting processes
• Identify and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness in close and reporting
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline accounting operations
• Participate in special projects and initiatives assigned by the Accounting Manager
