Our client is seeking a highly motivated Corporate Accountant to support financial close, reporting, revenue accounting (asc606) and compliance activities across multiple entities. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and driving process improvements across systems and teams.
This role is hybrid - 3 days onsite in Downtown Chicago and 2 days remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead assigned areas of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process across multiple entities
- Revenue recognition and revenue accounting (asc606)
- Prepare and review complex journal entries, including revenue recognition, intercompany, inventory, accruals, leases, and manufacturing-related accounting
- Perform and review account reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation
- Drive timely resolution of reconciling items and unusual variancesSupport and review financial reporting submissions within consolidation systems (e.g., OneStream)
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies
Internal Controls & SOX Compliance
- Own and execute key SOX controls, including documentation and evidence retention
- Partner with internal and external auditors to support audit requests and walkthroughs
- Identify control gaps and support remediation efforts
- Maintain and enhance process documentation and standard operating procedures
ERP & Systems Integration
- Work across ERP environments (e.g., SAP and other financial systems) to ensure accurate data flow and reporting integrity
- Support system transitions and automation initiatives
- Assist in mapping, alignment, and reconciliation across reporting platforms
- Partner with IT and Finance teams to resolve structural or reporting inconsistencies
Business Partnership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Finance and operational teams to ensure accurate financial representation
- Support balance sheet reviews with business stakeholders
- Investigate and resolve accounting issues with cross-functional teams
- Provide technical accounting guidance to junior staff and business partners
Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement
- Identify inefficiencies in close and reporting processes and implement automation or standardization improvements
- Lead initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy, timeliness, and transparency
- Support special projects and ad hoc initiatives
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years (or close to) of progressive accounting experience
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, JDE, or similar platforms)
- Experience supporting Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and familiarity with the COSO framework
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency with reporting tools and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 – $110,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and location
