Job summary

Fathom is seeking a Senior Technical A&D Program Manager to lead pre-sale technical qualification and solution development for complex aerospace and defense opportunities in Hartland, Wisconsin. The role collaborates with engineering, sales, operations, quality, and supply chain to craft manufacturable, cost-efficient solutions and strong customer commitments.

You will own technical discovery, evaluate risks, and guide bid/no-bid decisions while ensuring alignment with AS9100/ITAR requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in Aerospace & Defense manufacturing, applications engineering, manufacturing engineering, or technical program management.
• Experience supporting complex, recurring manufacturing programs with multiple part families.
• Strong knowledge of precision CNC machining, multi-axis manufacturing, aerospace materials, tooling, finishing, and inspection processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, quality clauses, and translate them into executable manufacturing requirements.
• Experience working in regulated A&D environments with AS9100, ITAR-controlled work, configuration management, traceability, and first-article inspection.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery with customer and internal teams to capture requirements and feasibility.
• Develop and value-sell manufacturing solutions focusing on manufacturability and cost.
• Serve as primary technical decision-maker on bid/no-bid decisions.
• Review drawings, GD&T, and quality clauses; resolve ambiguities with customers.
• Coordinate pre-award technical reviews and handoff to execution.
• Provide post-award technical support for quality issues and RMAs.
• Ensure compliance with export controls and quality-system requirements.
