Job summary

Fathom is seeking an Applications Engineer in Hartland, WI, to join a customer-facing team focused on aerospace and defense opportunities. The role combines CNC manufacturing expertise with strategic quoting and consultative selling to win profitable programs.

You will translate complex technical requirements into manufacturable solutions, lead DFM discussions, present NRE costs, and develop financial cases for capital investments when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in precision manufacturing.
• 7+ years in CNC manufacturing or related field with aerospace/defense exposure.
• Proven business development and technical selling experience that leads to awards.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical and manufacturing strategy for complex CNC opportunities and aerospace/defense programs.
• Develop competitive, accurate proposals considering materials, tooling, setup times, and production costs.
• Partner with Sales for customer discovery, qualification, presentations, negotiations, and close.
• Identify opportunities to grow relationships with aerospace/defense customers and convert projects into recurring production.
