Job summary

Pink Tile Education are recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with ASD at a Bexley school. The role covers 1:1, classroom and pastoral support, helping pupils access learning and feel safe and supported throughout the school day.

The successful candidate will be patient, reliable and compassionate, able to build positive relationships with pupils. A 1:1 support background and resilience in challenging situations are desirable, with immediate start and term-time hours

SEND Teaching Assistant — ASD Support

Location: Bexley

Job Type: Full-time, Term-time only

Days: Monday to Friday

Hours: 8:30am — 3:30pm

Pay: £100 — £120 per day

Start Date: Immediate

About the Role

Pink Tile Education are currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Bexley.

This is an exciting opportunity for a patient, reliable and compassionate individual who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The successful candidate will provide 1:1 learning support, classroom support and pastoral support, helping pupils to access their education, develop their confidence and feel safe and supported throughout the school day.

You will be expected to build positive relationships with pupils and take a calm, patient and non-judgemental approach, recognising that every child has different needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with ASD and additional learning needs.
  • Support pupils to access learning and participate in classroom activities.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to support individual learning needs.
  • Provide effective classroom support across the school day.
  • Offer pastoral, emotional and social support to pupils.
  • Help pupils manage emotions, social situations and changes in routine.
  • Support pupils during transitions and throughout the school day.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, communication and positive behaviour.
  • Develop positive, trusting and professional relationships with pupils.
  • Adapt your approach to suit individual needs and learning styles.
  • Maintain a patient, understanding and non-judgemental approach.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Confident supporting children with ASD or other additional needs.

  • Enthusiastic about developing their experience within SEND education.

Previous experience working with SEND, ASD, SEN, SEMH, children, schools, education, pastoral support or behaviour support would be highly desirable.

Relevant experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, SEN Teaching Assistant, Support Worker or Youth Worker would also be considered.

The advertised daily rate is inclusive of 12.07% PAYE holiday pay.
