Job summary

Connex Education is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with diverse needs across Chesterfield from September 2026. This role offers opportunities in a respected Multi Academy Trust, with flexible full-time and part-time placements.

You will work closely with teachers, assist pupils with learning access, and implement strategies to boost confidence and progress in a supportive school setting.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH, or additional needs.
• Calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, PMLD and SEMH.
• Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support.
• Promote pupil independence, confidence and wellbeing.
• Support behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.

Pay: £93-£105 per week, dependent on experience

Assignment Details:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential.

Depending on the assignment, your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, PMLD and SEMH
• Working alongside teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences
