Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is recruiting caring and adaptable SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils in specialist SEND schools and mainstream settings across Chesterfield. This role offers flexible opportunities, including immediate and September 2026 starts, with the chance to make a meaningful difference to children and young people with additional needs.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs is highly desirable.
• Strong communication, teamwork and relationship-building skills are important.
• An enhanced DBS and safeguarding knowledge are preferred.

Location: Chesterfield | Pay: £475 – £550 per week | Contract: Full-time and part-time supply, long-term and permanent opportunities

Connex Education is recruiting caring and adaptable SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils in specialist SEND schools and mainstream settings across Chesterfield. About the Role / Setting

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide personalised support to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and make progress academically, socially and emotionally. Connex Education works with specialist SEND settings and inclusive mainstream schools across Chesterfield and the surrounding areas. These schools offer nurturing environments, experienced teams and a strong focus on helping every learner develop confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils with additional needs including ASD, ADHD, PMLD and SEMH needs.
• Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support in lessons and interventions.
• Work alongside teachers and school staff to promote learning and development.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive emotional wellbeing.
• Follow individual support plans and behaviour strategies in line with school policies.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs is highly desirable.
• A background in education, care, residential support, youth work or a similar child-focused setting.
• A calm, patient and compassionate approach to supporting pupils.
• Strong communication, teamwork and relationship-building skills.
• A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education.
• The Right to Work in the UK.
