Connex Education Partnership is recruiting compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants for flexible supply, long-term and permanent opportunities across Bradford. This role supports children and young people with additional needs while offering a flexible schedule.

Starting immediately and in September 2026, you can access a range of specialist and mainstream SEND settings with supportive local education teams and ongoing training, including wellbeing resources and CPD opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND/SEMH.

• DBS update service or willingness to apply.

SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Bradford | Pay: £475-£550 per week | Contract: Full-time and part-time supply, long-term and permanent opportunities

About the Role / Setting

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils who may face barriers to learning, communication, social development or emotional wellbeing. Placements may be in specialist SEND schools or inclusive mainstream provisions, depending on your experience and availability. You will work closely with teachers, support staff and wider school teams to help pupils build confidence, independence and engagement in learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Support children and young people with additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, PMLD and SEMH needs.
• Deliver one-to-one and small group support in line with individual learning needs.
• Assist pupils with participation in lessons, interventions and enrichment activities.
• Follow individual support plans, behaviour strategies and school policies.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive routines throughout the school day.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and families where appropriate.
• Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs is highly desirable.
• Experience in education, care, residential support, youth work or another child-focused setting would be beneficial.
• A calm, patient and compassionate approach to supporting pupils.
• Strong communication, teamwork and relationship-building skills.
• A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education.
• The Right to Work in the UK.
