Job summary

Connex Education is recruiting Inclusion Teaching Assistants to support pupils in mainstream primary schools across Taunton and surrounding areas, from September 2026. The role offers flexible day-to-day supply, short-term placements, and long-term opportunities to help children with a range of additional learning needs access education.

Qualifications

  • Experience with children or young people with SEND is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in schools, childcare, youth work, care or support work is advantageous.
  • A patient, caring, resilient and inclusive approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children to overcome barriers to learning.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to different classroom environments and needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils throughout the school day.
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging, accessible and inclusive learning activities.
  • Support children with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and learning needs.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupils’ needs and EHCP targets.
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other school staff to provide consistent support.
  • Help pupils develop social and emotional skills and build positive relationships.
  • Assist with personal care where required, following training and guidance.
  • Promote a safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and communicate pupils’ progress and any concerns.

Inclusion Teaching Assistant
Location: Taunton
Salary: £95 – £110 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: September 2026

About the Role

Connex Education is recruiting dedicated and compassionate Inclusion Teaching Assistants to support pupils within mainstream primary schools across Taunton and the surrounding areas, from September 2026.

We are looking for individuals interested in a mixture of flexible day‑to‑day supply work, short‑term placements, and long‑term opportunities, supporting children with a range of additional learning needs within inclusive and nurturing classroom environments.

As an Inclusion Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers, SENCOs and wider school staff to help ensure that all pupils can fully access their education. You will provide targeted support to children who may require additional assistance with learning, communication, social interaction, emotional regulation or other areas of development.

Key Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For
