Job summary

Qualifications

• Relevant teaching qualification with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Appropriate SENCo qualification or evidence of meeting the applicable statutory requirements for the role.
• Experience supporting students with SEND in a school setting.
• Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive educational provision.
• Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills.
• Experience coordinating support plans, reviews and external professional involvement.
• The legal right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the identification, assessment and ongoing monitoring of students with SEND.
• Oversee the implementation and review of support plans and appropriate classroom adjustments.
• Advise teachers on differentiation, inclusive teaching and strategies for supporting additional needs.
• Liaise with parents, carers, external specialists and local authority representatives.
• Coordinate annual reviews and contribute to the effective management of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Maintain accurate SEND records and ensure relevant documentation is up to date.
• Support staff training and the development of effective whole-school SEND practices.
• Monitor the impact of interventions and use progress information to inform future provision.
• Contribute to safeguarding, student wellbeing and the school's wider improvement strategy.
