Construction Material Testing seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to act as a seller-doer in Illinois, blending business development with technical workload and sealing reports. You’ll manage client relationships while overseeing testing and reporting, traveling as needed to projects in your market.

The role offers base pay plus a revenue share tied to the clients you develop, with the company-backed laboratory and field staff supporting project delivery from Sugar Land headquarters.

Qualifications

• Active PE license in the posting state or ability to obtain by comity within 90 days.
• 6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection, including client-facing responsibility.
• Proven track record of bringing in work, or a credible plan to do so.
• Comfortable pricing, negotiating, and saying no to a bad contract.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services; scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
• Serve as engineer of record on projects you win: review field and laboratory data, resolve failing tests, and seal reports and letters.
• Direct technicians and inspectors on your projects and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
• Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in your market.
