Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to act as seller-doer, balancing business development with technical workload. You’ll maintain client relationships, scope and price proposals, and seal reports while leading field staff and coordinating lab activities.

Travel to client sites is expected as you grow the book of business. You bring 6+ years in materials testing or geotechnical work, with a proven ability to win work and price contracts.

Qualifications

• Active PE license (civil, geotechnical, or structural) in the posting state or ability to obtain by comity within 90 days.
• 6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibilities.
• Track record of winning work or a credible plan to generate business in this market.
• Comfort with pricing, negotiating, and declining unfavorable contracts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients—general contractors, owners, developers, and design firms—for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
• Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
• Serve as engineer of record on won projects: review field and laboratory data, resolve failing tests, seal reports and letters.
• Direct technicians and inspectors on projects and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
• Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in your market.
