Job summary

Food Lion is seeking a Self-Checkout Ambassador to deliver fast, friendly service at the front end. You will greet customers, assist with self-checkout usage, and ensure prompts and payments are processed smoothly in a busy store environment.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast, easy, friendly service at self-checkouts.
• Greet customers and use their name when possible.
• Assist customers on how to use Self-checkouts with hand scanner for quick checkout.
• Respond to customer inquiries and self-checkout system notifications.
• Monitor self-checkouts for proper usage and accurate scanning of items.
• Remind customers of items located on bottom of cart or under baby seats before transaction.
• Assist in scanning orders and provide payment instructions as needed.
• Complete self-checkout voids and age-restricted item verifications per Front End standards.
• Follow procedures for acceptance and payment processing with checks and coupons.
• Maintain alertness and call for assistance to service customers per standards.
• Engage self-checkout customers needing assistance and be courteous to associates and customers.
