Working Alternatives, Inc. is seeking a Shift Supervisor in Charge of Training to oversee Security Monitors on shift and to deliver required trainings for residents and staff in California.

The role includes developing staff, ensuring safety, documenting training, and coordinating with field leadership to meet contract obligations. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience in the reentry/correctional field is required.
• One year supervisory experience is required.
• Must pass federal background check.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and social security card; US citizenship, permanent resident, or other lawful status required.
• Available to work any shift; travel locally may be required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Security Monitors on shift.
• Plans, conducts, and facilitates organizational trainings according to contract.
• Ensures staff will be provided 20 hours of annual training on required topics.
• Ensures staff receive 40 hours of training on duties and responsibilities prior to working with federal residents.
• Conducts and documents OJT for newly hired staff prior to being placed on shift without supervision.
• Ensure training is documented with topics, date, time, and participants in each staff member’s training file.
• Recommends disciplinary action for employee violations.
• Oversee shift operations and monitor facility grounds and equipment for safety.
• Participate in the hiring process for Security Monitors as needed.
• Supervise/train Security Monitors on RRC and BOP policies and procedures.
• Assist in creating staff schedules and processing vacation/sick leave requests.
• Ensure all security posts are manned and personnel are alert.
• Supervise/lead fire drills and assist with staff evaluations.
• Be able to perform all Security Monitor duties as needed.
• Counsel and develop Security Monitor as needed.
• Inform Program Director/Assistant Director of issues; ensure daily handoff to next shift.
• Must be available to work any shift any time any day.
• Local travel may be required.
• Complete all annual training required by contract.
• Complies with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
• Ensures rest and meal breaks are taken per California law.
• Reports policy violations as they occur.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
