Working Alternatives, Inc. is seeking a Shift Supervisor to supervise Security Monitors on shift, provide resident care, and support achievement of organizational goals.

The role includes overseeing shift operations, staff development, and maintaining a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, at least one year in reentry/correctional field and supervisory experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to pass a federal background check.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience in the reentry/correctional field is required.
• One year supervisory experience is required.
• Experience in a correctional field or supervisory experience may be waived with HR approval.
• Must have good communication skills and be able to articulate professionally, verbally and in writing.
• Must complete annual training required by contract.
• Available to work any shift, any time, any schedule.
• Must have a valid driver’s license or state ID, and be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or other lawfully admitted person.
• Must pass a federal background check.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Security Monitors on shift.
• Recommends disciplinary action for employee violations.
• Monitor facility grounds and equipment for hazards and report faults.
• Review files, logs and tasks to ensure accuracy.
• Conduct urinalysis and Breathalyzer tests as needed.
• Conduct resident counts as needed.
• Monitor resident movement and sign-in/sign-out procedures.
• Conduct audits to ensure documents are complete and compliant.
• Delegate tasks to Security Monitors (breathalyzer, room searches, pat searches, walkthroughs).
• Oversee shift operations.
• Participate in hiring for Security Monitors if needed.
• Supervise and train Security Monitors on policies and procedures.
• Assist in creating staff schedules and handling leave requests.
• Ensure all security posts are manned and staff is alert.
• Supervise/lead fire drills.
• Assist with staff evaluations.
• Be able to perform all Security Monitor duties as needed.
• Counsel and develop Security Monitors when needed.
• Inform Program Director/Assistant Director of issues.
• Communicate daily updates to the next shift.
• Must be available to work any shift at any time.
• Local travel may be required.
• Complete all annual training required by contract.
• Comply with laws and regulations.
• Ensure breaks are taken per California law.
• Report policy violations.
• Perform other assigned tasks.
