Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a Security Monitor who will coordinate administrative and operational security on a specific shift at a residential re-entry center. The role requires leading staff, ensuring secure counts, and maintaining daily logs and reports to support safety and compliance.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, leadership experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to communicate clearly in English.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year as a Monitor I or 2 years related experience; leadership pref.
• Must hold a current and active Driver’s License.
• Familiar with community correctional operations, regulations and supervision training.
• Ability to write legible reports in English with proper grammar.
• Ability to plan, motivate, schedule, train and react quickly to emergencies.
• Ability to work any assigned shift.
• Ability to work with computers and the applicable software.

Responsibilities

• Reads, understands and complies with post orders for the assigned post.
• Ensure resident formal counts are conducted.
• Directs Monitor staff and residents, trains new employees and schedules work.
• Report any suspected unauthorized activity to the Security Manager or Facility Director.
• Maintain daily logs, resident in/out, visitors in/out, and facility checks.
• Provide adequate staffing and fill in during shortages.
• Participate in staff evaluations and training requirements.
• Monitor safety practices and prepare safety/accident reports.
• Conduct shift meetings and enhance communications within the facility.
• Communicate with staff, inmates, visitors, and the public with tact and clear instructions.
• Prepare staff logs and disciplinary reports; review shift reports.
• Conduct inspections to ensure standards and procedures are followed.
• Conduct surveillance and identify residents visually for extended periods.
• Engage in rotating shifts and emergency response; maintain security.
