Job summary

GEO Reentry Services LLC is seeking a full-time Security Monitor to coordinate administrative and operational security on a residential re-entry center shift. The role leads staff during the shift to ensure adequate security coverage and adherence to post orders and facility policy.

The candidate will supervise Monitor staff, conduct counts, logs, and incident reporting, maintain safety standards, train new employees, and communicate clearly with residents, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of experience as a Monitor I or two years in a similar field.
• Active driver's license.
• Familiar with community corrections operations and policies.
• Ability to write legible reports in English.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Reads, understands and complies with specific post orders for the assigned post.
• Ensure resident formal counts are conducted.
• Directs Monitor staff and residents on the shift and evaluates performance according to policy.
• Report any suspected unauthorized activity or absence to the Security Manager or Facility Director.
• Maintain daily logs, resident in/out, visitors in/out, and facility checks.
• Provide adequate staffing and fill in during short staffing periods.
• Participate in evaluating security staff.
• Coordinate with facility training requirements and ensure training completion.
• Monitor safety practices and prepare safety and accident reports as required by policy.
• Conduct shift office meetings and attend staff meetings to improve communication.
• Communicate clearly with staff, residents, visitors, and the public with tact and fairness.
• Prepare staff logs and disciplinary reports; process reports in a timely manner.
• Review shift reports and records; ensure proper documentation.
• Inspect housing and general areas to maintain standards and safety.
• Conduct visual and audio surveillance for extended periods.
• Engage in confined-area duties including rotating shifts and extended patrols.
• Take action to prevent or diffuse disruptive situations.
• Remain alert and respond quickly in emergencies.
• Complete in-service training and adhere to policies; perform other duties as assigned.
