Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Security Technician in Maryland to install, program, start-up, certify, and train customers on security, fire alarm, and building automation systems on varied projects.

You will read blueprints, troubleshoot, and demonstrate systems, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with project teams. A valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally are required; high school diploma and 3–5 years’ field experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; relevant field service experience preferred.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in security/tech service.
• Certifications in major security platforms (Software House, Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, AMAG, Milestone, ONSSI, AXIS) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, test, repair, and service security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation systems.
• Read blueprints/schematics; interpret wiring diagrams and manuals for installation.
• Commission new systems, demonstrate operation, and train customers.
• Mentor less-experienced staff and support project teams.
• Coordinate with Project/Operations managers to manage quality, scope, and timelines.
• Travel locally to job sites; communicate risks and opportunities to minimize costs.
