Job summary

Hilton Nashville Downtown is seeking a Security Officer to ensure guest, employee, and property safety while upholding service standards. The role requires responding promptly to incidents and maintaining a secure environment across hotel areas.

Key duties include regular safety walkthroughs, reporting incidents, and coordinating with team members during emergencies. A high school diploma or GED is expected, with security experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1–3 months related experience or training, or equivalent.
• Previous hotel security experience preferred.
• Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Be first responder in case of emergencies (guest illness, fire, accidents).
• Visually inspect hotel areas and conduct safety walkthroughs.
• Address issues promptly and resolve; maintain professional attitude.
• Prepare reports (theft, injuries, etc.) as needed.
• Resolve guest concerns/complaints and identify root causes.
• Maintain safety for guests and colleagues; follow standards.
• May work other hotel areas to support operations.

Job Details: Job Location: Hilton Nashville Downtown - Nashville, TN 37201, Position Type: Full Time, Position Overview: Responsible for the safety and security of guests, employees, and property, while maintaining standards of service. Promptly responding to incidents to maintain a secure environment.

Essential Job Functions:

• Ensure adequate service and safety of property, guests, employees, while maintaining a professional and friendly attitude
• Be first responder in case of emergency, i.e., guest illness, fire emergency, employee accident
• Visually inspect hotel areas; conduct safety and security walkthroughs of all departments, public space, outside grounds, parking, emergency exits, doors, etc. Address issues and resolve. Follow set schedule/walkthrough format, if applicable
• Adhere to service standards, always ensuring safety and comfort of guests
• Verbally communicate, in a calm, positive demeanor, taking control, giving direction in case of hotel emergency
• Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, local safety and health regulations and corporate standards
• Handle lost & found, using applicable procedures
• Prepare any necessary reports, i.e., theft reports, employee injuries, etc.
• Resolve guest concerns/complaints, address root issue.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• The employee may be expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description.
• Maintain a safe work environment for co-workers and a safe hotel for guests; please refer to Section 2.4 in the Team Member Handbook for specific examples.

Qualifications:

Qualifications, Job Knowledge, Experience, Skills, Abilities:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous hotel security experience preferred.
• Proficient communication skills, both verbally and in writing, enabling effective interaction with guests and colleagues.
• Ability to multi-task and handle pressure during peak periods while maintaining service standards.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance guidelines, and procedure manuals.
• Always upholds professionalism, exhibiting courtesy and respect towards guests and colleagues.
• Knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local health and safety regulations.
• Ability to grasp, lift, carry or transport up to 50 pounds.
• Strong computer skills.

Physical requirements of the position and work environment:

• Must be able to walk, climb stairs.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, and crouch.
• Must use hands to reach, grasp, handle, push and pull.
• Must have good near and far vision.
• Must be able to hear, talk, smell.
• Must be able to lift & carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand and walk for up to 5 hours and a total of 7 hours in an 8 hour shift.

• Duties may be performed indoors and outdoors.

Hilton Nashville Downtown Additional Property Specific Functions:

• Must complete Hilton brand required trainings.
• Must obtain unarmed security guard license.
• CPR certified.
