Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Security Officer II at Rusk State Hospital to maintain a safe environment by patrolling, monitoring alarms, and coordinating emergency responses to protect patients, staff, and visitors.

Applicants should have two years of security experience; a Texas driver license and CPR certification are preferred. This regular full-time role offers evening/night shifts, potential additional pay for certain hours, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of work experience in security, law enforcement, or military preferred.
• Twelve months work experience in a mental health or correctional facility preferred.
• Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain it within 90 days.
• CPR certified or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Monitors surveillance cameras and patrolling buildings and grounds.
• Disseminates and coordinates emergency responses and information.
• Assists in apprehension of suspects in cases of unauthorized entry or violations.
• Prepares timely incident and investigative reports.
• Evaluates and recommends changes to security regulations.
• May work alternate shift patterns, including overtime and weekends.
