Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Security Officer II for San Antonio State Hospital. You will monitor facilities, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with law enforcement while supporting a secure, healing environment for Texans.

The role includes evening and night shifts with potential for additional pay on weekends. Applicants must meet screening criteria and maintain required certifications.

Qualifications

• Two years of work experience in security, law enforcement, or military preferred.
• Twelve months work experience in a mental health or correctional facility preferred.
• Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain it within 90 days after hire date.
• CPR certified or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular basis and may be scheduled for specific shifts, rotating schedules, extended shifts, or overtime.
• Monitors surveillance cameras for unauthorized persons, fires, and incidents and reports emergencies.
• Disseminates and coordinates emergency responses and information to hospital management and law enforcement personnel as appropriate.
• Assists in the apprehension of suspects for violations such as unauthorized entry or disturbances.
• Prepares timely incident and investigative reports regarding emergencies or security violations.
• Evaluates and recommends changes to security regulations and procedures.
• Performs other duties including supporting disaster response and Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
