Job summary

SMX is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to join our team to support a Modernized Data Science Platform for a Federal customer. The role focuses on bridging business needs with technical solutions and leveraging modern AI capabilities.

The ideal candidate will design AI Agents, research AI capabilities in Databricks and Palantir, engineer prompts for LLMs, build chatbots, and train ML models using live data, while operating in an agile environment.

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship with an active DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
6+ years of related work experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on development experience in training AI models.
Experience integrating AI into DevOps pipelines.
Experience developing Agents using OpenAI LLMs.
Experience building AI chatbots for business needs.
Experience training ML models on production data for predictive analysis.
Familiarity with agile development methodology.
Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
Ability to work cross-functionally and independently.

Responsibilities

Design and develop new AI Agents to accelerate capability development.
Research AI capabilities in Databricks and Palantir to standardize usage by developers.
Prompt engineering for LLMs to speed up analysis and coding.
Develop chatbots to support developer and customer interactions.
Train ML models to predict outcomes from historical data.
