Job summary

SMX is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to support a Modernized Data Science Platform for a Federal customer. The role bridges business needs and technical solutions, focusing on modern AI capabilities and rapid advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities include designing AI Agents, researching AI capabilities, prompting LLMs, building chatbots, and training models on production data. A DoD clearance and collaboration in agile teams are required.

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
6+ years of related work experience in AI/ML.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
2+ years hands-on development in training AI models.
Experience integrating AI into DevOps pipelines to speed coding and delivery.
Experience developing Agents using OpenAI LLMs.
Experience with AI chatbots for business needs.
Experience training ML models on live/production data for predictive analysis.
Experience with agile development methodology.
Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases.
Ability to work cross-functionally and independently.
Proven knowledge sharing through code reviews and documentation.
Driven, self-directed and mission-focused.

Responsibilities

Design and develop AI Agents to speed capability development.
Research AI capabilities in Databricks and Palantir to standardize usage by developers.
Prompt engineer LLMs for analysis and coding support.
Develop chatbots to support developers and customers.
Train ML models to predict outcomes from historical data.
