SMX is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to join our team, helping modernize a data science platform for a Federal customer. The role bridges business needs and technical solutions, leveraging state-of-the-art AI capabilities and a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

The position emphasizes designing AI Agents, developing AI chatbots, and training models on production data, with strong DoD clearance requirements and a collaborative, agile culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• US citizenship with active DoD clearance or ability to obtain one.
• 6 years of related work experience.
• 2+ years hands-on development in training AI models.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into Dev/Ops pipelines.
• Experience developing Agents using Open AI LLMs.
• Experience developing AI chatbots for business requirements.
• Experience training ML models on live/production data.
• Experience with agile development.
• Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration.
• Self-directed with solid documentation.
• Strong sense of mission and commitment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new AI Agents to expedite capabilities meeting business requirements.
• Research AI capabilities with Databricks and Palantir to standardize usage by developers.
• Prompt Engineer LLMs to support analysis and coding.
• Develop chatbots to support developer and customer interactions.
• Train ML models to predict outcomes based on historical data inputs.
