Job summary

SMX is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to join our team supporting a Federal customer, building a Modernized Data Science Platform and bridging business needs with advanced AI capabilities. You will design AI Agents, research AI capabilities in Databricks and Palantir, engineer prompts for LLMs, develop chatbots, and train ML models on production data.

Salary is $115,000—$180,000 USD annually; SMX is an Equal Opportunity employer.

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship with active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
6 years of related work experience.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
At least 2 years hands-on experience training AI models.
Experience integrating AI capabilities into DevOps pipelines.
Experience developing agents using OpenAI LLMs.
Experience developing AI chatbots for business needs.
Experience training ML models on live/production datasets.
Experience with Agile development.
Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases.
Ability to work cross-functionally.
Proven ability to work independently without supervision.
Proven experience in knowledge sharing (code reviews, documentation).
Driven, self-directed personality.
Strong sense of mission and commitment.

Responsibilities

Design and develop new AI Agents to expedite capability development meeting business requirements.
Research AI capabilities within Databricks and Palantir to standardize usage by developers.
Prompt Engineer LLMs to expedite functional analysis and coding.
Develop chatbots to support developer and customer interactions.
Train ML models to predict outcomes from historical data inputs.
