Job summary

RTX in Massachusetts seeks a Section Leader - Manager, Mech. Eng to lead multi-disciplinary mechanical design teams in support of Air Defense systems. This onsite role requires active DoD Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship.

You will guide concepts through detailed design, production transition, and supplier support, with EVMS/EAC tracking and risk management. Relocation eligibility and a competitive salary range are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 8+ years of experience, or advanced degree with 5+ years.
• Experience leading engineering teams with cost, schedule, and execution responsibilities.
• Mechanical design expertise from concept to production transition.
• Experience with materials selection, manufacturing processes, GD&T and tolerance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams with responsibility for cost, schedule, and technical performance.
• Conduct performance reviews and support recruitment and retention efforts.
• Guide mechanical design efforts from concept and trade studies through detailed design, production transition, and supplier support.
• Develop and integrate mechanical hardware and electronics packaging (chassis, modules, PCAs, PCBs, interconnects).
• Apply materials selection, manufacturing processes, GD&T, and tolerance analysis to ensure quality and reliability.
• Support project execution, including proposal development (BOEs), EVMS/EAC tracking, and Risk & Opportunity management.
• Conduct root cause and corrective action analysis and present findings to leadership and stakeholders.
• Support the factory and suppliers with product integration domestically and internationally.
• Management reporting and development of technical and programmatic presentations.
• Lead cross-functional IPTs involving Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and PM.
