Job summary

RTX seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Air Defense Ground Equipment Mechanical Design Department. This on‑site role is in Tewksbury or Andover, MA requiring US citizenship and eligibility for a Secret clearance.

You will design, develop, and document major end items for defense systems and serve as the technical focal point on IPTs. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve challenges, manage tasks to schedule and budget, and participate in reviews and trade studies to

Qualifications

• STEM degree with at least five years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least three years.
• Experience spanning full product lifecycle from concept to production and support.
• Experience in mechanical design, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with CAD tools and product data management (PDM) systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and document components, sub‑assemblies, and major end items for defense systems.
• Serve as the technical focal point on small mechanical or cross‑functional teams within an IPT.
• Provide support for product integration in domestic and international locations.
• Collaborate across engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, and suppliers to resolve technical challenges.
• Manage tasks independently to meet schedule, budget, and technical goals.
• Participate in design reviews and conduct trade studies to support sound engineering decisions.
• Apply mechanical problem‑solving and hardware development expertise in a fast‑paced environment.
