6 Degrees Search is sourcing a Production Supervisor for a top-tier automotive supplier in Grand Rapids, MI. The role leads second-shift paint operations, supervising a Team Leader and about 25 production staff across loading, unloading, and quality control.

The position emphasizes safety, quality, and productivity, with hands-on floor leadership, coaching, and a strong focus on continuous improvement within a unionized plant. Salary is commensurate with experience and benefits start day one.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience supervising in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Automotive/paint line experience preferred.
• Experience in a unionized facility preferred.

Mansioni

• Provide hands-on leadership for second-shift paint operations.
• Lead Team Leader and ~25 employees in loading, unloading, and quality functions.
• Assign labor to meet daily production needs and respond to constraints.
• Monitor line performance, quality, scrap, downtime; take corrective action.
• Promote safety culture; ensure compliance with PPE, chemical handling, and regs.
• Coordinate with Quality/Engineering/Maintenance to fix defects and variations.
• Troubleshoot automated paint line equipment; escalate issues as needed.
• Ensure materials are staged and counted for uninterrupted operations.
• Lead shift start-up meetings and provide effective handovers.
• Train and develop staff; enforce standardized work and policies.
• Drive continuous improvement via Lean, 5S, root-cause analysis, and productivity gains.
