Job summary

sefl is seeking a PT Outbound Freight Handler for the second shift. You will load and unload freight, inspect trailers, and use forklifts and hand trucks to move goods.

You will weigh/dimension shipments, ensure safe handling, review freight bills, and verify hazardous material paperwork. Preferred candidates have a High School Diploma or GED, background check and drug/alcohol testing, and forklift-related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Background check and alcohol/drug test clearance required.
• Preferred background in forklift operation, dock/warehouse, or material handling; forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight from equipment.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailers before loading freight.
• Use proper lifting techniques and handling equipment (forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.).
• Weigh and dimension shipments for correct classification and safe handling.
• Plan cube utilization and weight distribution during loading.
• Inspect and document freight conditions and shortages or damage.
• Review freight bills and manifests for special instructions and exceptions.
• Verify hazardous material descriptions and placarding when applicable.
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
