Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines is seeking a Part-Time Outbound Freight Handler to load and unload freight, prepare trailers, and ensure safe handling. You will inspect and document shipment conditions, weigh/dimension cargo, and review paperwork for accuracy, including hazardous materials when applicable.

The role emphasizes safe lifting, equipment use (forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks), and compliance with safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must pass background check and alcohol/drug test.
• Prefer experience as Forklift Operator, Dock or Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler.
• Forklift Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight from equipment; assist recouping damaged freight.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect, and clean trailers before loading.
• Use appropriate equipment to move and load freight; ensure safe handling.
• Weigh and dimension shipments for proper classification and freight rating.
• Plan cube utilization and weight distribution; block and brace freight to prevent shifting.
• Review freight bills and manifests; verify hazardous material paperwork and placarding when needed.
