Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals in Boston, MA is seeking a Manufacturing Operations Supervisor for the second shift to lead a small team in GMP cell processing, ensuring quality and compliance across adherent and suspension cultures.

You will hire, train, coach, and schedule 2–8 direct reports, liaise with cross-functional partners on quality systems, CAPAs, SOPs, and batch records, and troubleshoot equipment alarms in a cleanroom setting. On-site five days per week.

Qualifications

• Extensive GMP experience with lead or trainer responsibilities.
• Minimum 3 years cell culture experience in adherent and suspension cultures.
• Direct supervisory experience is required.
• Working knowledge of GMP manufacturing (21 CFR 210/211) and quality systems (21 CFR 820).
• Experience with bioreactors and cell processing for clinical materials.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 2–8 direct reports; hire, train, and coach to achieve cGMP standards.
• Ensure cGMP compliance through education and oversight of the team.
• Schedule personnel in coordination with Manufacturing leadership.
• Manage projects, timelines, and lead cross-functional meetings.
• Investigate quality events, CAPAs, deviations, change controls, and risk assessments.
• Create and update SOPs and Batch Records; manage equipment alarms.
• Serve as SME; troubleshoot issues in a cleanroom environment.
