The Seasonal Laborer position in the Maintenance Services Department involves performing unskilled to semi-skilled work in routine maintenance and repair of facilities and grounds. Responsibilities include operating power mowers, trimmers, and small trucks, along with various groundskeeping tasks.

Essential Functions

• Mowing, trimming, and landscaping in parks and city property
• Picking up refuse and maintaining cleanliness of city facilities
• Assisting skilled personnel with maintenance, repair, and improvement tasks
• Planting, watering, and cultivating flowers, trees, and shrubs
• Shoveling asphalt, sand, gravel, mulch, and dirt by hand
• Performing maintenance and painting on structures using hand tools
• Operating non-CDL vehicles

Knowledge, Skills, and Characteristics

• Knowledge of tools, machinery, and equipment used in grounds and building maintenance
• Understanding of routine maintenance methods and techniques
• Physical ability to perform medium-heavy activities frequently
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to work effectively with others

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Frequent sitting and driving; moderate standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting over 50 pounds; working in various weather conditions; potential overtime and emergency calls. The City promotes a drug-free environment with mandatory drug testing.
