Job summary

J. Alexander's Restaurants Career Center in Michigan is seeking a Line Cook to join our scratch kitchen operation. You will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring proper food temperatures and presentation, while coordinating with expo and management to meet high standards.

We hire line and prep cooks with a focus on teamwork, reliability, and adherence to sanitation protocols. Flexible shifts and opportunities for advancement are available within our open-kitchen concept.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old to operate kitchen equipment.
• 1 yr. previous kitchen / culinary / chef experience is preferred, but not required.
• Experience and knowledge of kitchen equipment including but not limited to knives, slicer, mixer, stoves, and ovens required.
• Flexible to work a variety of shifts.

Responsibilities

• Our restaurants operate professional, fast-paced, scratch kitchens.
• Line and prep cooks understand high expectations for food presentation and execution.
• Open-kitchen layout with visibility from the dining room.
• Coordinate with assembler, expo, and management; manage ticket orders for proteins and ensure proper temps.
• Maintain a clean station and workspace; follow sanitation protocols; opening/closing duties.
