Job summary

Memphis-Shelby County Schools is seeking a dedicated school nutrition supervisor to ensure efficient operation of the school cafeteria, supervise staff, and oversee food planning, preparation, and service for a large student population.

The role includes maintaining compliance with district policies, training staff, and producing accurate reports while ensuring high-quality meals across sites. Strong leadership and food safety knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or GED; two years in institutional food service; experience supervising staff.
• Must obtain ServSafe certification or completion of the Tennessee Dept of Education - Food Safety and Schools Certificate within one year.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff and sets standards; trains, assigns, and motivates to meet targets and goals.
• Manages daily food service activities and operations, including meal preparation and service for students and staff.
• Submits reports and maintains records as required.
• Provides on-the-job training for food service personnel and enforces regulations.
• Prepares food following standardized recipes and production methods; handles equipment and food handling guidelines.
• Performs duties of subordinates during staff shortages or special events.
• Attends trainings, meetings, and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
