Job summary

Memphis-Shelby County Schools seeks a dedicated School Nutrition Trainee to oversee cafeteria operations, supervise staff, and ensure compliant food service delivery across facilities. You will assist in planning meals, verifying records, and supporting the district’s nutrition program goals.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and at least two years in institutional food service with supervisory experience; ServSafe certification must be obtained within one year.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; two years in institutional food service and supervision experience.
• Must obtain ServSafe certification within one year of hire or completion of the Tennessee Dept. of Education program.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff, establishing standards and coaching; trains, assigns, motivates to meet targets.
• Manages daily food service activities, including meal preparation and service for students and staff.
• Submits reports and maintains records; ensures compliance with district policies and regulations.
• Instructs employees on regulations and procedures and provides on-the-job training.
• Oversees production system, following recipes and safety guidelines; covers duties during shortages or events.
• Attends trainings and meetings to enhance knowledge and skills; performs other related duties.
