Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking a part-time Nutrition Services Worker I at Allen Elementary School to assist in preparing and serving meals across breakfast, lunch and a la carte options. The role may involve work at the central kitchen or on-site at a school location, with duties including data input and basic food preparation.

Responsibilities include operating kitchen equipment, packing, serving, and maintaining sanitation standards, while supporting students and school staff.

Qualifications

• Six months to one year of preparing and serving food; institutional food service experience is desired.
• Knowledge of reading, writing in English and basic math; basic food preparation, safe working practices, sanitary food handling and storage techniques.
• Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions in English; operate commercial kitchen equipment; lift/carry up to 40 lbs; work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and clean commercial kitchen equipment (mixers, grinders, slicers, griddles, fryers, dishwashers, ovens).
• Set up serving equipment and carts with dishes, utensils and food; serve breakfast, lunch and a la carte items.
• Assist with special functions and events; follow food safety and sanitation practices.
• Provide training to NS Trainees and assist in training student workers.
