Job summary

The Washoe County School District is seeking a Nutrition Services Worker I at Allen Elementary School to assist with meal preparation and serving for breakfast and lunch. You may work at a school site or central kitchen, performing related duties as required.

Under supervision, you will handle food safety, sanitation, data input at POS modules, and may supervise student workers. You may travel to other locations as needed and train new NS Trainees.

Qualifications

• Six months to one year of preparing and serving food; institutional food service experience is desired.
• A Safeschools course is required within the first year of employment.
• Reading, writing in English and basic math; safe handling and storage techniques.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains and cleans commercial kitchen equipment (mixers, grinders, slicers, fryers, ovens).
• Sets up serving equipment, containers, carts; handles food prep such as washing, chopping, and slicing.
• Operates cash registers or POS units; may handle money and daily sales reconciliation.
• Assists with food preparation for special functions (banquets, barbecues, field trips).
• Follows health regulations and nutrition service policies; trains NS Trainees and student workers.
• Makes sure work area is sanitary and safe; assists in serving meals to students.
