Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking a Nutrition Services Worker I to assist in preparing and serving meals at a school site or central kitchen. The role involves operating kitchen equipment, stocking supplies, and delivering food to students in a fast-paced school environment.

The position requires basic English reading/writing, some experience in food service, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Training and benefits are offered as per WCSD guidelines.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months to one (1) year of preparing and serving food.
• Completion of a two (2) hour Safeschools course within the first year of employment.
• Reading, writing in English and basic math; basic food preparation, safe working practices, sanitary food handling and storage techniques.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and clean commercial kitchen equipment and related tools.
• Set up serving equipment, containers and carts with dishes, utensils, and food.
• Receive, stock groceries and supplies; assist in food preparation for meals.
• Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch and a la carte items; may use point of sale modules for transactions.
