Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks a CNS Manager to lead the School Nutrition Program with responsibility for supervision, food production planning, inventory control, and customer service within a school cafeteria setting.

This role requires strong knowledge of nutrition laws, management skills, and the ability to manage records, costs, and staff training while ensuring safety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child nutrition laws, policies, and procedures.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps.
• Effective time management skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for records and reports.
• Ability to read, interpret, and administer schedules and recipes in large quantities.
• Ability to demonstrate appropriate food production skills.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions without close supervision.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Manages the School Nutrition Program in compliance with all applicable policies and procedures.
• Implements and adheres to handbook and personnel standards.
• Files and maintains records for breakfast, lunch, snacks, cash sheets, inventories, purchasing, invoices, time sheets, and reports.
• Maintains food cost control through planning, forecasting, ordering and receiving; checks quality of items.
• Supervises CNS employees in the program and assists in staff selection.
• Trains and evaluates employees in food production, serving, equipment care, sanitation, and conducts staff meetings.
• Prepares daily work and cleaning schedules for CNS staff.
• Maintains food safety and sanitation procedures and monitors temperature records.
• Reports accidents and monitors employee health to protect public health.
• Follows internal fiscal controls and cash handling procedures.
• Manages equipment care and use.
• Completes required CNS manager training and USDA PD hours.
• Promotes healthy school nutrition and positive public relations.
• Creates a cafeteria atmosphere that increases meal participation.
