Job summary

Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) is seeking a School Nurse to coordinate and develop a comprehensive health program across assigned areas. You will communicate health needs of students to administrators, supervisors, and staff, ensuring timely, accurate documentation and care.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Nursing with Michigan RN licensure and eligibility for a school nurse certificate; CPR is preferred.

  • Experience in public health or school nursing preferred.
  • Strong clinical nursing skills including medication administration, health monitoring, and emergency response.

Position Summary

The School Nurse is responsible for the coordination and development of a health program in the assigned area of responsibility. Communicates the health needs of students to administrators, supervisors, and staff. The School Nurse may coordinate the activities of a licensed practical nurse/nurse aide in the assigned area.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field required; valid State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required; eligibility for a school nurse certificate required; current CPR preferred
  • Experience in public health or school nursing preferred; experience working with children with disabilities preferred
  • Strong clinical nursing skills, including medication administration, health monitoring, and emergency response
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, families, and community partners in a team-based environment
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple health needs and maintain accurate records
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate professionalism while working in a dynamic school setting

Pay Range: $46,600- $90,934 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Work Schedule: 186 Days, 7 Hours
