Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree or higher preferred
• Valid Michigan Standard CTE Certificate, Professional CTE Certificate, or eligible for Annual Career Authorization with 4,000+ hours in past 10 years
• ASE Certifications in brakes, steering and suspension, electrical, and preventive maintenance and repair
• Experience: 4,000+ hours of work in field in past 10 years
• Demonstrates teaching strategies for diverse student population
• Communicates effectively in writing and speech

Position Summary

The GISD Instructor for Medium/Heavy Truck Technicianis responsible forleading the instructional program and implementing activities for high school students working toward careers inmedium/heavy trucktechnician.The instructoris responsible formeeting the unique needs of the students assigned to the program and prepares students for careers in medium/heavy truck technician professions.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree or higher preferred.ValidMichigan Standard CTE Certificate, Professional CTE Certificate, or eligible foran Annual Career Authorizationwith a minimumof 4,000recent and relevant hours of work experience in the field within the pastten (10)years.Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications in brakes, steering and suspension, electrical, and preventive maintenance and repair.

Experience: A minimum of 4,000 recent and relevant hours of work experience in the field within the past ten (10) years.

Skills/Other: Demonstratesappropriate teachingstrategies for all students.Demonstrates an understanding of adolescent developmental patterns.Demonstrates a commitment to Genesee Intermediate SchoolDistrictmission, purpose, beliefstatementsand learning principles.Possesses a strong working knowledge of subject matter and current research on learning.Possessesa high levelof skill in developing stimulating student assignments and varied student assessment vehicles. Possesses an ability to develop and reinforce a positive self-concept in each student.Excellent interpersonal skills.Exhibits self-control, mature judgment, congeniality, and ethical standards in all working relationships.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written communications. Demonstratesappropriate teachingstrategies fordiversestudent population. Ability toutilizedistrict technology, and work tomaintainproficiency, as skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district.Ability to assess anddeterminetheappropriate useof a variety of student assessmenttools.Demonstratemental/physical stamina necessary for lifting and moving heavy equipment and materials, repetitive stooping, squatting, bending, lifting, walking,kneelingand reaching whilemaintainingpersonal balance and stability.Punctuality and good attendance arerequirements for the position.Ability to work a flexible workday, work week, and work year.Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times.Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisionsin accordance withboard policies andestablishedadministrative guidelines.

Pay Range:$38,372 – $56,690 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Paid Time Off:

• Sick and Personal Business paid time, up to 13 days
