Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily lunch program prep and service at multiple elementary sites. You will learn and operate the POS system, reconcile monies, and help ensure accurate meal service while fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

The role emphasizes customer service, teamwork, and adherence to district policies, with flexibility to travel between campuses and follow USDA standards for food safety and HACCP

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and instructions.
• Proficiency in English reading and writing.

Responsibilities

• Learn and operate Point of Sale system and reconcile monies daily to ensure accuracy.
• Pursue opportunities to create positive relationships with the surrounding community, including other Nutrition Services staff, school staff, students and parents.
• Must have a focus on customer service and be pleasant and cooperative with a wide variety of people.
• Communicates effectively in written and verbal form, including email and computers; maintains confidentiality of student information.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Participate in training including PGI Classes; may lead training for kitchen staff.
• Willing to travel to multiple schools based on site needs; schedule may require flexibility.
• Assist in preparation, service and sale of meals ensuring compliance with department regulations.
