Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily meal preparation and serving across multiple school locations. The role requires ServSafe certification within 6 months and the ability to travel between sites with a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities include assisting in meal service, HACCP compliance, POS operations, and supporting kitchen staff. The position emphasizes customer service, teamwork, and adherence to district policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• ServSafe Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to travel to multiple schools within a reasonable geographic area; own transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily meal counts and production records.
• Assist in set up and cleanup of serving areas for timely service to students; ensure sanitation and HACCP compliance.
• Operate Point of Sale system and reconcile monies daily.
• Assist with opening, closing, cooking and serving of meals in absence of Kitchen Manager.
• Maintain positive relationships with Nutrition Services staff, school staff, students and parents; provide good customer service.
