Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking a Kitchen Assistant - At Large in the Highlands Ranch area to support daily meal prep and service across multiple schools. You will work under the Area Manager, rotate through locations, and help maintain community relations with staff, students, and families.

Requirements include a High School diploma and ServSafe within 6 months. The role offers 6 hours daily, a 0.75 FTE, and benefits eligibility with a flexible schedule and travel between sites.

Qualifications

• ServSafe certification required within 6 months of hire.
• High School or Equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication in English.
• Ability to travel to multiple schools and adapt to a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Maintain good community relationships with Nutrition Services staff, school staff, students and parents.
• Receive deliveries and store food and supplies as directed by supervisor; inventory as needed.
• Lead training for kitchen staff and complete USDA Professional Standards hours annually.
• Serve meals daily while ensuring HACCP and health department sanitation standards.
• Assist in preparation, service, and sale of meals; follow recipes and portion sizes.
• Maintain daily meal counts and production records; monitor temperatures and records.
• Set up and clean serving areas; operate kitchen equipment safely and hygienically.
• Operate Point of Sale system and reconcile monies daily for accuracy.
• Travel to multiple schools within a reasonable geographic area with own transportation.
